Mohammed Alabbar was born in UAE in 1963 and is a prominent citizen of this country. He graduated from University of Seattle, USA and has worked as a businessman and politician. He is the chairman of Emaar Properties since the company opened in 1997.
Alabbar is also the chairman of the Dubai Advisory Council where his job is to assess the long term growth of various companies in the country. He has served as a director of Investment Corporation in UAE where his team is responsible for managing financial assets of the real estate, transport, energy and many other sectors in the country. He is a highly skilled speaker at many international forums and seminars and is a sought after spokesman for the country’s economic sector.
As a graduate in Business Administration, Mohamed works with top NGOs and is fully dedicated to the cause of making reforms in education. From 1992 to 2003 he contributed to UAEs non oil industry as the vice chairman of the Aluminium Company. Four years later, he visited North Korea to find out about potential investment opportunities in that country.
A leading business publication ranked him second in its spring 2009 list of the one hundred Most Influential personalities in the World. Two years earlier, he had been named as the top 30 most powerful man globally by Fortune magazine. As a sport enthusiast, he continuously supports and promotes the annual Golf Tournament in Dubai. Golfing has remained one of his most favorite sports and he is often seen playing the game in his spare time.
Mohammed Alabbar earned his degree in Business and Finance Administration from Seattle University. He has also received an honorary doctoral degree in humanities. He plays an important role in 36 financial markets worldwide and has currently teamed up with the Italian clothes designer Georgio Armani to open luxury hotels in top destinations around the world.
